The current hospital is the University Hospital and is run by the Burkina government. It has been a blessing for the Burkina people, but has been the only option for health care for them. It is grossly under-sized and under-equipped. It currently serves a population of about 2 million people, and has few hospital beds, OR's, etc.

The new hospital project is not a replacement hospital, it is an additional hospital to supplement this current hospital. You see that there is no space in the open wards for family to linger, so they are forced to sit outside the hospital in the 105 degree heat, waiting while their loved one heals.

The hospital serves no meals, so the family cooks their meals and the patient's meals outside of the hospital wards on the grounds.
